Beauty Holiday Essentials In 34 Degree Heat

The summer holiday season may be over but I know many of you love to take a vacation seeking some winter sun. If this is you, then this Blog post is a must read: a bunch of my holiday beauty must-haves for your time in the sun!

Last month, I spent 10 days (with the family) in Croatia, it was idyllic!  Have you been?  Do let me know if you have, as it's definitely a place I'd love to revisit and I'd welcome hearing where you'd recommend.  With stunning views, lots of opportunities to relax, crystal clear waters and temperatures reaching 34 degrees I was in heaven and most definitely had the 'blues' on returning to UK and the next day being faced with a full day of rain.  The holiday plans for next year have already begun ;)

All the time relaxing meant I got the opportunity to shoot a few videos of products that I used time and time again whilst we were away and here’s the first video:

Three of my beauty essentials in 34 degree Croatian heat.

  • Aveda Botanical Repair Strengthening Leave-In treatment

Whilst on holiday I find myself in the sea or pool A LOT, especially when it’s so hot! This product was a fantastic treatment for my hair every night.

After washing your hair and before blow drying you apply it to your hair and leave it in. I’m always skeptical about leave-in treatments as I expect my hair to look / feel greasy afterwards but this was not the case. My hair felt silky soft, with reduced frizz and it was guaranteed protection from the heat of the hairdryer, which is good to know after it had been exposed to 34 degree heat from the sun.

To quote the LookFantastic website: “Boasting heat protection up to 450°, it’s ideal for anyone who frequently uses blow dryers, straighteners or curling tongues to style. Also enriched with UV protection, the treatment helps to shield against the sun, preserving both moisture and vibrancy of colour.”

  • La Roche Posay factor 50 suncream

I’ve been using this product for about a year now, after it was recommended to me by a client who’d been advised to use it by their dermatologist.

I love it! It’s easy to apply and doesn’t leave any white residue; I’ve had no reaction or break out of blemishes; and make-up wears well over the top of it. Over the 10 days we were away I used it every day and found it to be highly effective in providing good protection from the sun, along with (of course) wearing the obligatory sun hat and not basking in the mid-day heat.

  • Sali Hughes x Revolution Cleansing Balm

A beautiful product to use; it removed sun lotion and make-up effectively; and with a RRP of £15, a great price point. What’s not to love!

For holiday I decanted the product into these small round pots with screw-on lids. Perfect for when you’re trying to save on space.
