Products To Help Your Summer Make-up Last All Day
The weather is starting to get hotter, which is wonderful news for those that love the summer months but with it comes many challenges when you want your make-up look to last for longer than a few hours!
Here are 3 products to help your summer make-up last all day and to help avoid your face looking sweaty…
Urban Decay All Nighter Vitamin C Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray
Not a product that I would advocate wearing every day but for a wedding or special occasion it has its place when it comes to helping make-up to stay put. This is a product I use a lot in my bridal work, especially at this time of year, and is probably the most effective that I’ve found. I can’t vouch for the 16-hour staying power, as I’ve never worn make-up for that long (!), but it’s been effective for me (and my clients) for at least 8-10 hours.
Instead of spraying the product directly onto your face try first spraying it onto your hand and then, using a buffing brush, lift the product to apply it to the specific areas of your face where you want to set your make-up. This way your make-up shouldn’t congeal and it also means that you’re not breathing in any particles.
Other plus points to this product: it’s vegan and cruelty free.
A great product to have readily available in your handbag for every day use, especially with a price tag of c£4!
If used correctly I’ve found these sheets to be a very effective and easy way to remove excess oils. They leave no residue and once used provide you with a matte surface on which to then re-set that particular area of your make-up.
What’s the best way of using them? First take one-sheet and gentle place it over the area where you want to remove the excess oils, then gently roll your hand over the sheet ( - don’t rub, as this may also lift up your make-up, depending on how you originally set it) and lift it off. Then re-set this area of your make-up, for example using setting powder. Use a new sheet for a new area.
A cult setting powder and it’s clear to see why!
“Finely milled and weightless, this flawless invisible powder features micro-refined silica and soft-focus light-reflecting particles, which instantly blur imperfections and minimise the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles without creasing or caking” - extract from the website, Cult Beauty. I couldn’t agree more!
This is a beautiful product and does everything that’s claimed in the write-ups that you’ll read.
What’s the best way to use it? Turn the product upside down to place a small amount of the product onto the velour puff (contained within), then gentle roll the puff across those areas of your make-up that you wish to set. As before, remember to remove any excess oils first before applying this product.
Other points to consider when you want your make-up to last longer in the summer months:
Opt for long-wear products
Wear less make-up, and when wearing make-up apply in small layers and gradually build-up
Wear a Primer. There are many varieties and you’ll need to pick one that’s right for your skin type
If you have more oily skin or skin that’s prone to hot flushes, then choose products that have a more drier formulation, and
Ensure your skin is as hydrated as it possibly can be before applying any make-up. That way you’ll avoid your skin soaking up the make-up because it’s craving hydration.
